Paws in the Pines is a single heat Canicross ONLY raceOpen to all WASSA members and new non-members. Come and give it a go. Canicross is an amazingly fun trail run with your dog, where they're encouraged to pull and help you reach your top speed as a team!
Two distances are offered, please note both classes start at the same time so each person can only enter 1 class.
Approx. 4.5km walk OR run
Approx. 11km run
It is the entrant’s responsibility to ensure they and their dogs have the required fitness level to run the distance entered.
Event will be run under the Australian Sleddog Sports Association (ASSA) race rules. All competitors must have appropriate equipment for human and dog. Please contact the club if you have any questions about your gear!
* Dogs must be in an appropriate harness, connected with a line with bungee, and a human belt with a minimum 7cm width across the spine.
* We'll be having a fit check day on the Saturday at our normal training session, or you can contact committee with a photo of your gear to check if it's race ready.
* All finishers will receive a finishers ribbon
* Sashes for placings for men and women in each distance
* COFFEE VAN with SNACKS
* Aid station for humans and dogs half way through each course
* Spectators are free!
Committee and race marshall may reduce the distance of each class if required on the say. Factors such as temperature and fitness affect this, we will follow the temperature chart outlined in the ASSA race rules. Dog and human safety is paramount.
