🌿🍦 Pawpaw Ice Cream Returns! 🍦🌿We’re thrilled to announce that Pawpaw Ice Cream is back at all four locations of The Hop Ice Cream starting Friday, October 3rd - available in both dairy and vegan versions! Thanks to our friends at Milkweed Meadows Farm, we’re able to bring this extraordinary native fruit back to the menu.
To celebrate, Asheville GreenWorks will join us at The Hop (640 Merrimon Ave) on Friday, 10/3 from 3–6pm with info on their environmental work and pawpaw seedlings available for purchase. 🌱
What’s a Pawpaw?
Often called “Appalachia’s best-kept secret,” the pawpaw has thin green skin, large brown seeds, and a custard-like golden flesh with tropical notes of mango, banana, vanilla, and pineapple. Beyond being delicious, pawpaws are vital for pollinators—the leaves are the only food source for zebra swallowtail butterflies.
