Pattern welded paring knives with Matthew Parkinson
About this Event
In this two day class students will learn the basics of pattern welding including methods of forge welding, and controlling pattern formation. Starting with a small stack of 15n20 and 1084 steels students will forge a basic bar of pattern welded steel (also called damascus).
Using these bars, students wil prepare the material, forge a small blade, then grind and heat treat it. The blade will be mounted in a simple wood handle before finishing and etching the blades to reveal the pattern.
You must be 18 years or older to attend this class.
