About this Event
Participatory Filmmaking Workshop: Exploring Stories Through Film with Chris Chinnock
This hands-on workshop introduces people to participatory and socially engaged approaches to filmmaking.
Together we will explore how film can be used as a tool for reflection, storytelling, and social connection. The session will begin with a short discussion and viewing of examples from socially engaged film practice within the exhibition space.
Participants will then take part in a short video walk, using their phones to capture short clips, images, and moments that feel meaningful or interesting.
Back in the gallery space, we will explore ways of shaping these fragments into stories.
The workshop is open to anyone interested in creative storytelling, participatory practice, or socially engaged art. No filmmaking experience is required.
Chris Chinnock is a socially engaged Photographer and Filmmaker working with communities to explore the role of creativity in social change. He is the founder of Our Creative Connection, a social enterprise that uses photography, film, and creative participation to help people tell their own stories, in their own way.
His practice focuses on participatory and socially engaged approaches, where creative processes are used to spark conversation, reflection, and connection.
Alongside his project work, Chris creates films that explore creativity, community, and wellbeing, and facilitates workshops that help people use photography and film to tell stories that matter to them.
