Who's Really in Charge!? Boards, Committees, and the Limits of Authority
Boards and committees perform much of an organization's work, yet they are among the most misunderstood deliberative bodies. Presented by Professional Registered Parliamentarian, Fashika Willis McClelland, PRP, this interactive workshop explores the similarities and distinctions between boards, committees, executive committees, and independent boards under Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised (12th ed).
Participants will examine authority, composition, appointment methods, meetings, quorum, reports, committee recommendations, small-board procedures, and common governance mistakes. Practical scenarios and case studies will enable attendees to confidently advise clients, officers, boards, and committees while applying parliamentary principles consistent with RONR.
Come ready to learn, ask questions, and boost your confidence in any meeting setting!
*** Professional parliamentarians will be available to answer your questions on how to run a meeting according to Robert’s Rules of Order and on a practical level.
