WALK DETAILS
This walk is approximately 9km (allow approximately 3 depending on group pace).
This is a challenging walk along a mix of wide and single trails. Expect a few steep climbs/descents along the way and some sections of the trails are rocky and potentially slippery at times.
After rain there may be a few water crossings resulting in wet feet. Ensure you have shoes with good grip, and hiking poles are recommended for this walk if you have them.
MEET TIME/LOCATION
Meet at 8.15am for an 8.30am start.
We meet at the Western carpark of the Lake Picnic Area inside Para Wirra Conservation Park.
To get here, make sure you enter Para Wirra Conservation Park through the West Gate off Humbug Scrub Road. Once inside the park, follow Para Wirra Drive until reaching Lake Road West. Follow Lake Road West to the lake/carpark/toilets.

I.C.E. MEDICAL DETAILS FORM
Don’t forget to print off your I.C.E. medical details form which can be downloaded from our website.
If you are unable to print, your walk leader will have a spare form you can complete before beginning the walk.
WEATHER AND GEAR
You can check the forecast for the walk location here - http://www.bom.gov.au/places/sa/KHTM/forecast/detailed/
If the weather forecast is for extreme weather or a fire ban is issued for the Adelaide Hills, this walk will be cancelled the day before and fully refunded.
We will only cancel last minute (by text message and email) if there is a severe weather warning/thunderstorm warning or weather events that are likely to impact on the safety of our leaders and walkers.
Due to the variability of the weather, the following items will be needed:
- a daypack/backpack to carry your gear
- 2 litres of water
- sun protection (hat, sunnies, suncream)
- wet weather gear (check the forecast and plan accordingly!)
- blister kit/personal medication
- high energy snacks/fruit to enjoy along the way
- boots/comfortable walking shoes with good grip
- layerable clothing for before/during/after the walk (eg. jumper/jacket)
- walking poles (optional)
Please ensure you have the minimum gear required as no refunds are possible after booking. If you arrive under prepared our leaders have the right to ask you not to walk with us for safety reasons.
Note: All our leaders carry group first aid kits, emergency communication devices and are qualified bushwalking leaders.
OTHER INFORMATION
Our walks are all about fun, fitness and friendship - not a personal training session. If we cannot walk and talk at the same time we are walking too fast! And we never leave anyone behind.
Minimum age requirement for our walks is 18 years old (as long they are accompanied by a supervising adult). Please check with us if unsure.
For the walk to go ahead, we need a minimum of 4 walkers registered by the registration closing time (5pm the day before the walk). If a walk is cancelled due to the minimum number not being met, participants who have registered will be notified by text the evening before the walk and a refund will be given.
During our walks, photos may be taken for use publicly on our website, social media channels and e-newsletter. If you do not wish for your photo to be taken/used, please notify us via email - [email protected]
