About this Event
This is an in-person talk, held here at the Grapevine Centre. Many people assume agoraphobia is simply a fear of open spaces, but it's actually a more complex condition. Agoraphobia is a fear of being in situations where escape might be difficult or that help wouldn't be available if things go wrong. Someone with agoraphobia may be scared of travelling on public transport, visiting a shopping centre, or leaving home. If someone with agoraphobia finds themselves in a stressful situation, they'll sometimes experience the symptoms of a panic attack, such as rapid heartbeat, hyperventilating, feeling hot and sweaty, or feeling sick. Psychotherapist Sian Spencer-Bray will explain agoraphobia and panic and what help is available for those who experience these anxiety disorders.
Siân is Clinical Director & Lead Psychotherapist of the Therapy and Lifestyle Clinic.
