About this Event
The Sacramento Poetry Center presents celebrated novelist, essayist, short story writer and memoirist Pam Houston (Cowboys Are My Weakness, Deep Creek: Finding Hope In The High Country) for a special event in which she will speak on topics critical to our times. Her new book, Without Exception: Reclaiming Abortion, Personhood and Freedom (Torrey House Press, 2024), written with equal parts candor and lyricism, illuminates the interconnected histories of abortion in the United States and in her own life during the decades when Roe v. Wade was the law of the land. Houston guides us through the shifting landscapes of politics, the law, and self-determination in a country where access to medical care and the power to determine your own destiny are once again increasingly dependent on geography and circumstance. There will be a Q&A and booksigning following her reading. The event will be held in the California Stage at 25th & R Streets in midtown next to SPC. Amatoria Fine Art Books is our bookseller partner in the presentation. Free. Please RSVP.
