PALE MOON GANG rocks THE CLASH
If there’s such a thing as New York Rock, PALE MOON GANG are its unapologetic ambassadors. Born and raised in the gritty New York City of the 1970’s, they channel the raw energy of the East Village scene that exploded in the '80s — and they do it like they were there… because they were.
Frontman Richard Dev Greene (vocals/guitar) and bassist Luke Miller cut their teeth in their teenage band, Pale Face of Youth, earning a local following and a string of coveted opening slots for icons like The Clash, Public Image Ltd, The Cramps, The Ramones, Billy Idol, The Gun Club, and The Lords of the New Church.
Greene, a native New Yorker, grew up surrounded by the chaos, creativity, and rebellion of downtown Manhattan’s punk underground. That baptism by fire came to a head when Pale Face of Youth was discovered at CBGB and invited to open for The Clash on what would turn out to be their final tour. Not only did they survive — they made their mark. So much so that Joe Strummer had them back for two more shows. No small feat, as The Clash crowd were known for chewing up opening acts.
Now, with PALE MOON GANG, that legacy continues. The band’s current Clash tribute show is a powerhouse set that captures the spirit, urgency, and political fire of the original — not as imitation, but as celebration. It’s a fierce, heartfelt homage from a band that earned its stripes sharing stages with the legends themselves.
Drummer Mark Brotter is back in the band, having been in Pale Face of Youth in the late ’80s. Mark has also played with Palmyra Delran, Matt Keating, Hem, and Pierce Turner. Rounding out the lineup is young guitar slinger Darian Shahidi, who brings his serious chops and soulful energy to the Pale Moon Gang experience.
PALE MOON GANG isn’t just keeping New York rock alive — they’re making damn sure it still kicks.
