Blind tasting is the sport of wine tasting!
About this Event

BLIND TASTING AND TRIVIA

Blind tasting is the sport of wine tasting! It rewards knowledge and educates those that are building their references. Truth is you need not know anything to participate - but those with the most knowledge will probably learn the greatest amount and we build this competitive tasting for small teams… so even the weakest of tasters can be supported by the team you join. This is a great way to learn (known as deductive tasting) and a great way to learn even more and share great wisdom if you have credentials or are pursuing them.

Price: $150 per person or $275 per couple
Price on The Day of: $200 per person

FOR THE PALATE

We taste the wines in flights; some wines we present and not tell you which glass they are in… your job is to find them. Then we throw in a flight where we tell you nothing (double or triple blind)… things go wild - it’s fun, its a sport, a learning session and chaos creates comedy.

FOR THE ENERGY

This is wine tasting gamified. We keep score, we break the group into teams of 3 or 4 tasters. Your team gets points for correctly answering/ guessing the wines and the trivia questions. At the end - one team is crowned victorious but everyone wins and has a fun time.

FOR THE ACTION

This tasting is action packed, focused at times, and random at others. We have been told it is a favorite tasting of our most academic students! Build your palate, reinforce and expand what you know, or learn it for the first time! All experience levels welcome. This class helps develop tasting skills and adds LIFE points!

ALL GUESTS WILL GET A PETITE CHEESE PLATE AND CRACKERS!

In the past we have had different elements - this is Palate Builder 2026. All experience welcome… we will push all students to support the team your on and learn from others in your group… or support each other with educated guess work. We open a minimum of 12 wines but will increase as the group size grows!

ABOUT IAN BLACKBURN, WINE ENTREPRENEURIan discovered the wine industry at the ripe age of 21 while working for famous Chefs such as Thomas Keller and Joachim Splichal in Los Angeles’ top dining rooms. The discovery of wine and the massive need for wine knowledge quickly engulfed Ian’s life and his passion redirected his career from Restaurants and Hotels to Vineyards and Education. Soon enough in 1995, LearnAboutWine.com was born, becoming the first website dedicated to wine education. With over 25-years of experience traveling the wine world, Ian is a published author (Wiley Publications, 2002), has 10 vintages of top level winemaking on his resume at Beekeeper Cellars and is considered one of the region's best wine educators. Ian’s push to evolve and his ability to pivot has produced a strata of new concepts such as, ZoomIntoWine.com (virtual education), Merchantofwine.com (the family’s online wine store), and now the return of in-person gatherings with LearnAboutWine.com - using all the great gathering spots in LA as potential venues. winecloudinc.com | merchantofwine.com | beekeepercellars.com
