Paint Your Pet with Alice Helwig and Liquitex

In this guided demo, you will learn how to use colours from the Liquitex Heavy Body range, combined with Fluid and Gel mediums, to capture your pet’s unique personality in acrylic. Alice will walk you through the process step by step, sharing tips and techniques along the way.

All supplies are provided, so there is nothing to prepare in advance! Just bring a 5 x 7 or 8 x 10 printed headshot of your favourite animal as your reference photo.

This hands-on, immersive class is a great opportunity to explore Liquitex acrylic products, experiment with different techniques, and build your confidence as a painter. You will leave with new skills and a one-of-a-kind keepsake celebrating a beloved furry friend.

Alice Helwig is a Calgary-based artist and educator who has painted in acrylics since the age of 12. She studied commercial art at Medicine Hat College and earned a B.Ed. with Distinction from the University of Lethbridge. Her teaching career has taken her from remote northern communities to the TV screen, where she hosted four seasons of Canvas on Shaw Cable. A two-time resident at the Banff Centre for Arts, Helwig continues to teach and create in her studio. Her award-winning work is held in private and corporate collections across Canada.
