Join us for a hands-on creative experience inspired by the prehistoric past! In this unique session, participants will get an up-close look at Ice Age specimens from the New York State Museum’s collections and learn directly from Director of Research & Collections Dr. Robert Feranec. Explore the fascinating forms, structures, and adaptations of Ice Age giants before translating what you see into your own artwork. After an engaging introduction to the specimens, Museum Educator and artist Audrea Din will guide participants through drawing techniques to help capture form, texture, and detail. Then, it’s your turn to experiment and create your own prehistoric-inspired artwork. We’ll wrap up by gathering together to share our work, exchange ideas, and celebrate the creative process. All materials are provided—just bring your curiosity and creativity! Open to participants ages 13+. Registration required.
