Paint & Agua Fresca: Mexican Folk Art Workshop
About this Event
Discover the tradition of Mexican cartonería (paper mache folk art), in this 3-hour cultural workshop!
Whether you are looking to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, try out a new craft, or just enjoy a fun afternoon with culture and flavor, this class is built for you. No art experience needed.
🫀 What You’ll Experience
- Cultural Context & Live Demonstration: Learn the history of cartonería and watch a live demonstration showcasing how raw paper and paste are sculpted into 3D art.
- Hands-On Painting Session: Every student receives their own pre-primed paper mache sacred heart (corazón) ready to paint. Personalize your piece using bright paints, traditional patterns, and guided line-work techniques.
- Sip & Snack: Enjoy complimentary snacks: agua fresca and warm elotes (street corn with mayo, queso fresco, chili powder, and lime) all while you paint!
- Take Home Your Art: Leave with a complete, handcrafted piece ready for display.
