Outdoor Portraiture Photography with George Simian – Pasadena

Join Samy’s Camera for this hands-on photography workshop with models, including a pre-class lecture, a model shoot & post-class review session.

We all take more photos of people than of any other subject, but we can make them much, much better with planning for the activity, the light, and the camera settings.

This workshop includes a lecture that will cover topics including capturing models candidly or engaging them directly with the camera; the quality of soft vs. hard light, the direction of the light, and the use of reflectors; and the best camera settings for more effectively focusing attention on the subject.

During the hands-on shoot, small groups limited to 4 students will photograph models, rotating locations so that everyone has a chance to photograph different models in different activities.

Workshop Schedule:

Saturday, March 7th, Lecture and Model Shoot 11 am – 4 pm.

Monday, March 9th Live Online Review/Critique at 7 pm

Instructor Bio: Former East Coast advertising photographer turned LA dance photography virtuoso. In his 30+ year adventure, George has traveled globally, capturing everything from corporate annual reports to magazine features. When not freezing dancers in mid-air with his signature lighting techniques (as featured in Digital Photo Pro Magazine: ), George champions photographers’ rights on the national and LA boards of the American Photographic Artists and leads the LA Digital Imaging Group. This photography guru has taught eager minds at Cornell, Boston College, UCLA Extension, and Samy’s Camera, and guided photo enthusiasts through exotic workshops in Bali and Oaxaca.
