Learn essential outdoor first aid skills in this hands-on 2-day course.
Certificates will be issued upon completion of the course via email. These certificates will be valid for 3 years.
Cost of course is £190 per person and covers both days and your certificate.
The course will run from 9am-5pm each day. CPR will be taught & assessed. During this first aid course, you will need to demonstrate certain skills from a kneeling position, as this reflects real-life scenarios where these techniques might be required. Please ensure you're comfortable with this requirement before taking part, as kneeling is an integral part of the practical training.
If you have any concerns or physical limitations that may affect your ability to kneel, let us know in advance. We are happy to discuss potential adjustments or alternatives to ensure everyone can participate as fully as possible. Comfortable clothing and sturdy shoes are recommended to help you move easily during the session. Everyone will be allocated into a group of 3 or 4 people.
BASP Trainers are experienced Ski, Mountain, Mountain Bike and Water-based Rescue personnel with a wealth of practical ‘hands on’ experience and first aid knowledge.
All the Trainers regularly deal with casualties using first aid in an outdoor and work environment; this keeps their delivery of first aid training fresh, current and relevant. This enables them to relate to the candidates situation alongside sharing their practical experience of real life first aid incidents. The Trainer will adapt the course ensuring their delivery of outdoor scenarios is invaluable to the candidates, according to their needs.

This 2 day course will be held in the Main Hall of Lairg Community Centre.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
-Warm Clothes
-Suitable outdoor cold weather clothing & footwear for outside scenarios
-A pen & notepad

Please bring your own flask/drinks & refreshments along with a packed lunch. Breaks are normally approximately 10:30am and 3pm. Lunch will be at approximately 12:30pm.
