About this Event

Looking for a classic that’s powerful, intimate, and deeply moving?

This month, we’re diving into , a timeless love story set against the realities of injustice, devotion, and resilience.

Set in 1970s Harlem, the novel follows Tish and Fonny, two young lovers whose future is threatened when Fonny is falsely accused of a crime. As Tish navigates pregnancy, family, and a broken justice system, the story becomes a profound reflection on what it means to love someone in an unjust world.

About the Book:
If Beale Street Could Talk explores themes of love, systemic racism, family loyalty, and endurance. Both tender and devastating, Baldwin’s writing captures the beauty of Black love while confronting the harsh realities that seek to break it.
