Origami Paper Boats with Artist A.S.M. Kobayashi

Join us for a free drop-in workshop to fold and decorate an origami paper boat before floating it in Celebration Square.
About this Event

Inspired by the history of Japanese Canadian fishing communities and the AGM's current exhibition Electric Neon Clock, this hands-on workshop invites folks of all ages, and especially families with young children, to decorate and fold origami boats made from durable, water-resistant synthetic paper. This drop-in workshop concludes with participants floating their boats together in the Celebration Square fountain, creating a playful and collective moment in public space.

What to Expect

• Free Drop-In Activity: Come by anytime during the program hours.
• All Materials Provided: Everything you need will be ready for you.
• Float Your Boat: Fold & decorate your boat then test it out in the Celebration Square Fountain.
• Family-Friendly Fun: This workshop is suitable for participants ages 2 & up. Participants under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
• Japan Festival Canada: This workshop is offered in collaboration with Japan Festival Canada August 14th & 15th.
