Opera in the Dark: The Ghost Light Hour
About this Event
The ghost light refers to a single bare light left on in a theater when the space is otherwise completely dark. A It is usually a simple bulb on a stand placed at center stage after everyone leaves. What it does to prevent accidents in a dark theater (avoids falls, open pits, cables).
BUT many theaters keep it lit to “appease the ghosts” or honor the spirits of past performers and believe every theater has ghosts, and the light keeps them company so they don’t cause mischief.
Fine Arts of Miami presents a concert of past performers performing one more time. A concert presentation where the ghost light becomes a beacon for the voices that shaped our stages, a gentle invitation for them to join us again. As the theater rests in near darkness, the performers step forward as if emerging from the shadows of history, offering their artistry once more. The result is a luminous encounter between the living and the remembered—a celebration of legacy, presence, and the enduring power of performance.
Not just an experience but a Signature Experience.
