Join us for the opening ceremony of Pride Fest 2026; let's celebrate queer joy and community! Announcements and Welcome begins at Noon.
At 12:30p, Youth Volume violinists and cellists ages 4-15 will offer classical songs and ambient sound alongside local DJ, CJ Redfearn. He'll be playing original beats inspired by Lake Superior and the human heart beat.
Come enjoy the sunshine and the bright and beautiful Marquette area queer community! "Queer" is an umbrella term for sexual/gender minorities.
From Noon to 11p, there will be music on stage, Drag Shows, Free Mom Hugs, food, kids crafts, and info tables offering resources for our kin in kind!

The mission of the non-profit, Upper Peninsula Rainbow Pride, is to elevate pride events in the Upper Peninsual, to make connections between all of the UP-wide 2SLGBTQIA+ organizations, and to provide and share supportive resources to the community."
2SLGBTQIA+ stands for:
- Two-Spirit
- Lesbian
- Gay
- Bisexual
- Transgender
- Queer or Questioning
- Intersex, and Asexual
with the '+' representing other sexual and gender diverse identities.
The "2S" is placed first to honor Indigenous, Native, or First Nations people as the first communities within the broader sexual and gender spectrum.
WHAT IS PRIDE?
Pride Month originated from the 1969 Stonewall Riots in NYC, a defiant uprising against police brutality that served as a catalyst for the modern queer rights movement.
The first Pride marches took place in 1970 to mark the anniversary, growing from a commemoration of struggle into a global celebration of queer visibility, self-worth, and to honor the pioneers of the movement.
Originally a grassroots and often confrontational act of liberation, Pride events center community joy and support, while celebrating each of our queer identities as individual gifts we give to the movement.
