You’re invited to visit Gallows Hill Artists, Salem’s only dedicated workspace for artists with 26 studios, providing a vibrant environment designed to nurture creativity and connection. Our studios are housed in a historic former tannery building in Salem’s Gallows Hill neighborhood at 16 Proctor Street, Salem MA.
What truly sets Gallows Hill Artists apart is our commitment to artistic growth and engagement. We host artist gatherings, workshops, collaborative projects, and open studio events that encourage both resident artists and the public to connect and create.

Additional local artists will join our artist market. Other creative businesses at our building will also participate including NorthShore Glass School.
We’re located in a former tannery at Proctor’s Ledge; this historic building survived the Great Salem Fire of 1914. Today, Gallows Hill Artists upholds this legacy of creativity and resilience, offering a vibrant community inspired by its unique history and character.

Information for Visitors:
Gallows Hill Artists is located on the third and fourth floors at 16 Proctor Street in Salem MA. Please note that we do not have a passenger elevator; access to our studios requires climbing stairs. If you have accessibility needs or questions, we encourage you to contact us for a ride in our freight elevator.
Parking is available in our lot on Proctor Street just a short walk from the building. Additional parking is available at Gallows Hill Park and neighborhood side streets. Please park responsibly with respect for our neighbors and local parking restrictions.
