About this Event
Following the free Reading Room Open House, this ticketed Vault Tour will showcase the incredible collections available for researchers to utilize. Specialty items from important collections will be highlighted, including 18th century Church Registers, documents related to enslavement, Revolutionary War papers, unique ephemera items, and photographs of early Salem. While we will be focusing on our most popular collections that researchers can use, we will also be discussing some of our lesser known collections that have invaluable research potential.
General Vault Tour Information
Archives Vault Tours are offered several times a year and are individually themed, meaning each tour is a different experience. Tours include a walk through of the Archives Vault where patrons will be able to see the 3,000 linear feet of collection materials including local, regional, and national historical documents, maps, books, and artwork. After touring the vault, patrons will be able to view up close highlighted items from the collection.
All attendees will be asked to follow the Archive's rules and policies regarding entering the vault and interacting with collection materials. Lockers are available for patrons to secure their bags, any food or drinks, and other items. No professional photography equipment is allowed, however we encourage you to take pictures with your phone and have a variety of reprographic services available as well. Make sure to check out our gift shop before leaving!
