OPEN: A new civic space for art and science | Grand opening

Join us at Palazzo Buontalenti to celebrate the EUI's 50th anniversary with the opening of the OPEN exhibition to the city, featuring video projections and contemporary art.

On 8 and 9 May 2026, from 21:00 to 23:00, the European University Institute (EUI) opens the doors of Palazzo Buontalenti (Entrance: Via Cavour 57) to the city of Florence. Citizens are invited to explore the historically significant spaces, returned to the public thanks to the Agenzia del Demanio and the support of our Partners, and visit the OPEN: A new civic space for art and science exhibition, curated by Sergio Risaliti and Stefania Rispoli.

Walk through the central courtyard, brought to life by architectural video projections and an immersive "sound garden", and discover site-specific works by international artists including Agnieszka Polska, Berlinde De Bruyckere, Eglė Budvytytė, Elena Mazzi, Leone Contini, and Riccardo Previdi. Volunteers from the FAI Florence Delegation will welcome visitors, and MUS.E art historians will conduct the exhibition tours.

Important Information: Free entry, but maximum capacity in the exhibition rooms is limited to 100 people at a time. To secure your spot, you can register for general admission or for dedicated guided tours (max 25 people per group) by selecting your specific time slot ticket option (departures at 21:15 and 22:15) during registration.
