Come to our spring 2026 meeting of nanofabrication / characterization experts and management for informal presentations and networking!
About this Event

Join us for a day of networking, knowledge-sharing, and collaboration with fellow nanofabrication and characterization managers in the Midwest region, hosted by the Lurie Nanofabrication Facility at the University of Michigan.

This in-person event, named in honor of one of the founders, Meredith Metzler, will feature insightful talks and opportunities to connect with peer experts. Sponsored by Kurt J. Lesker Company, the event will include a light networking reception Monday night and a full day of collaborative talks and discussions on Tuesday, May 12.

Getting Here

Ann Arbor is easily reachable from throughout the Midwest region by car and air travel.


By Air

The closest major airport is Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW), located about 25–30 miles from Ann Arbor. From DTW, you can reach campus via rental car, ride-share services, or shuttle transportation.


By Train

Amtrak provides daily service to Ann Arbor Station (ARB) via the Wolverine Line, with direct connections to Chicago and Detroit. The Ann Arbor station is located a short distance from downtown and the University of Michigan campus, and local transportation options (ride-share, taxis, and city buses) are available for travel to the conference location.


By Car

Ann Arbor is conveniently located off I-94 and US-23, with easy access from Detroit, Chicago, Lansing, and other surrounding Midwest cities. Parking details and campus access information will be shared with attendees closer to the event date.


Accommodations

Hotel rooms for Monday night (5/11) are available at the , located a short drive from the University of Michigan campus. The shuttle service offered by the DoubleTree is an excellent option to get to the Lurie Nanofabrication Facility (reservation when you check into the hotel is suggested). Contact the event host if you are interested in reserving a room, and book early as availability may be limited.

There are also several additional hotel options in the Ann Arbor area within a short drive of the conference location.
