One-Day Nihon Buyo Workshop (Traditional Japanese Kabuki Dance)

About this Event

This workshop is designed for people who are interested in Japanese traditional dance, especially those who are considering joining the Traditional Japanese Kabuki Dance class for beginners, which will begin in October. The class will be a three-month course consisting of 8 sessions.

This is not an open class. The course is intended for participants who are able to attend the weekly classes for the full 8-week period.

The number of participants in the course will be limited in order to maintain a small class size. If you are interested, we encourage you to register early.

During the workshop, you will have the opportunity to experience and learn what will be taught in the full course. Because it can be difficult to understand the body movements while wearing a kimono, participants will not wear kimono or yukata during the workshop. Please wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. Participants will dance in socks.

We apologize, but this workshop is not recommended for people with knee problems.

Photography and video recording are not permitted during the workshop.

Traditional Japanese Kabuki Dance Course starts from Oct. 11st (sun) 4:30pm-6:00pm for total 8 Lessons (every Sundays from 4:30pm) Please note: There is no class on Nov. 15th and 29th. Course fee is $320.00
This course is designed to teach Nihon Buyo (traditional Japanese kabuki dance) over a three-month period.

Unlike many Western dance styles that emphasize energetic, outward expression, Nihon Buyo is a slow, meditative art form that encourages you to become deeply aware of your body's center while integrating movement, mindfulness, and traditional knowledge into a unified expression. It is a philosophical form of dance that emphasizes inner presence and refinement.

Please note the following:

1. No discounts or make-up lessons will be provided for any missed or absent classes throughout the course.
2. This course has limited availability. Enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis and is confirmed only after both the application and full course payment have been completed.
3. Please wear comfortable clothing. A yukata will be worn during the middle portion of the course.
