“One Battle After Another” — Cabin Fever Film Series 2026

Fenimore Art Museum is thrilled to present the final film of our 2026 Cabin Fever Film Series, a kinetic, prophetic modern masterpiece by writer/director Paul Thomas Anderson (There Will be Blood, Punch Drunk Love, Boogie Nights, Phantom Thread, Magnolia) loosely adapted from “Vineland” by the revolutionary American novelist Thomas Pynchon.

The film is presented free of charge with suggested cash donation at door. Reserving seats in advance is not required but highly encouraged. If you do reserve your seat in advance, please arrive by 7PM or else your seat will be given to someone waiting at the door.

Summary:

In this thrilling and darkly comedic vision of the near future, Bob Ferguson (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a retired freedom fighter and revolutionary who once acted as part of the “French 75.” More than a decade after the group disbanded, an old enemy in the form of Colonel Stephen Lockjaw (Sean Penn) resurfaces with sinister intent. As the former members of the “75” consider reuniting to rescue Bob’s kidnapped daughter, a series of battles across back streets, deserted roads, and a blasted out suburbia may have enormous implications for the future of the nation. Loosely adapted from the novel “Vineland” by legendary postmodern American writer Thomas Pynchon, “One Battle After Another” is in equal parts astute satire, pulse-pounding thrill ride, intimate drama, and urgent clarion call to a divided nation.
