Join this leisurely ramble with a Birmingham Ramblers group leader and enjoy social walking with our friendly members.
It is very helpful for the walk leader to have prior knowledge of numbers that will be on this walk. Meeting arrangements:
The walk starts and finishes at Blakesley Hall B25 8RN. Meet at the visitor centre Blakesley Hall ready to start the walk at 11.15am.
There are toilets in the centre. Please be aware the site doesn’t open until 11am.
By Bus: From the City, No 97 at 10.15am, Carrs Lane from bus stop MS5. Alight at Stuarts Road at 10.40am which is on Bordesley Green East. Cross Bordesley Green East at the lights and walk South on Stuarts Road. Take 5th turning left which is Blakesley Road. 10 Minute walk.
Also; Outer circle Bus Nos. 11A and 11C. For both routes alight at Blakesley Hall bus stop on Stoney Lane, and walk to Blakesley Road, (from 11C stop, you need to cross Stoney Lane at pedestrian lights) the hall is approximately 150m. along Blakesley Road.
The leader will be travelling from the City centre on Bus 97 from Carrs Lane.
By car; You may park at Blakesley Hall B25 8RN, from 11am but space is limited. (it is generally reserved for those visiting the Hall) There is also good on street parking on Greenwood Road, opposite the hall.
Walk Description:
Starting from Blakesley Hall this walk first visits the centre of Old Yardley conservation area. Here we walk around the various historic sites including St Edburgha church which dates back to 12th century and the Trust school which was established in the 16th Century. We then return to Blakesley Hall and walk around the garden and stop for our picnic and drink.
The walk then continues through Yardley Fields to the River Cole where and after a loop of the river it returns to Blakesley Hall.
Total Distance 4 miles. Good paths and pavements but some fields and probably mud!

Please note that some walks have a waiting list so tickets are NOT TRANSFERABLE; if you are unable to join us then please cancel your place to free it up for someone who may be on the waiting list rather than passing it to someone else.
