Join us for a fast-paced, morning winter hike along the Humber River, from Étienne Brûlé Park to Weston GO.
About this Event

The existing trails along the Humber River closely follow the historic Toronto Carrying Place. This path along the river, running from Lake Simcoe to Lake Ontario, was long used as part of a trading network between the various Indigenous Peoples of the area, including the Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee, and Huron-Wendat peoples. Later, the route served a similar purpose for European settlers and was key to the development of the modern city of Toronto.

Our hike will start at Étienne Brûlé Park and will follow the Humber River trail north and end at the Weston GO station. We’ll keep a fast pace and aim to get back to the city in the early afternoon. Expect conditions to be icy; crampons, ice cleats, or other traction devices will be required to participate in the hike.

Dogs that like to walk and can keep pace are welcome to attend (if the weather is cold, boots or paw wax are recommended to help protect their feet). Hike leader Calvin (he/him) and his 7-year-old shiba inu Mochi both look forward to hiking with you all!
