About this Event
This tribute band is a group of musicians that have come together to play the music of Old & In The Way- Jerry Garcia’s 1970’s bluegrass band that included Peter Rowan, Dave Grisman, Vassar Clements, and John Kahn. We are all seasoned musicians with many years of performing bluegrass. We came together to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the classic bluegrass album Old & In The Way. The band had a profound effect on all of the younger players of that time. The renditions of their classic songs such as “Midnight Moonlight”, “The Hobo Song” , “Old & In The Way”, “Land Of The Navajo” "Panama Red” , Wild Horses”, Kissimmee Kid”, "Pig In A Pen” as well as others will all be performed by us. They are enjoyed today as much as they were in the past. Matt Wenger plays guitar and sings lead and harmony. He has many years of performing bluegrass and as solo artist throughout central Pennsylvania. Robbie Mann (Dr. Fiddle) plays fiddle. Additionally, he is currently a member of the The Plate Scrapers – a progressive bluegrass band out of Virginia. Robbie also sings lead and harmony. Rob Parks plays bass and adds lead and harmony to our vocal effort. While living in Asheville, NC, Rob performed with legendary fiddler Bobby Hicks as well as other well known bluegrass stars. Joe Perloff plays mandolin. In the past, he performed with the Delaware and Maryland based band Red Smith and Blue Dawn – a progressive Americana band. Leon Lobos has over 40 years of experience playing bluegrass banjo on the east and west coast. Now living in Lancaster, he played locally in the early 2000’s with Mighty Fine Bluegrass Band.
