About this Event

Calling all Earth Science explorers: Join the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Geological Survey for Ohio Geology Discovery Day.

This event is free and perfect for learners of all ages who are excited about rocks, minerals, fossils and more. During the open house hours of 10:00 am–2:00 pm, visitors can engage in hands-on learning activities throughout the H. R. Collins Laboratory and Core Repository at Alum Creek State Park.

Activity stations will feature representatives from the ODNR Division of Geological Survey, ODNR Division of Natural Areas and Preserves, H2Ohio, Boonshoft Museum of Discovery, The Ohio State University School of Earth Sciences, Franklin Soil and Water Conservation District, Ohio Aggregates and Industrial Minerals Association, Ohio Natural Energy Institute, and The Ohio State University Byrd Polar and Climate Center.
In addition to the activity stations, visitors can grab lunch at an onsite food truck and enjoy the picnic area beside the laboratory.

You will not leave empty handed, with plenty of available giveaways, maps, and educational publications available.
