Of Seeing and Being: Giannina Dwin and Tony Fernandez Presented by Deering

The Frank is proud to present Of Seeing and Being: Giannina Dwin and Tony Fernandez, an exhibition curated by Liliam Dominguez, Head Curator and Museum and Collections Manager at Deering Estate. Part of the Deering Estate at The Frank program, this exhibition features the compelling works of Deering Estate Artists-in-Residence Giannina Dwin and Tony Fernandez, who explore themes of presence, absence, and the interplay between the visible and hidden.

Giannina Dwin’s ethereal salt installations, ceramic sculptures, and delicate representations of the female form delve into questions of temporality, identity, and transformation. Tony Fernandez’s abstract photographs of the Deering Estate’s natural landscapes blur the boundaries between documentation and poetic expression, offering fresh perspectives on the natural world. Complementing their work, two exclusive short films created by fellow Artist-in-Residence Jorge Gonzalez Graupera deepen the viewer’s connection to these themes.

This exhibition is part of the Deering Estate at The Frank initiative, which expands the cultural reach of Deering Estate Artists-in-Residence by showcasing their work in dynamic new settings and fostering community connections.

Reception March 13, 6–9 PM: Join us for an evening of art, conversation, and exploration. Light refreshments will be served. That evening, we are also proud to celebrate the opening of Adventum Floridana: Witnessing the Layers of a Vanishing Horizon, a solo exhibition by Andres Cabrera-Garcia, curated by Sophie Bonet. This evocative exhibition explores the fragile beauty of South Florida’s landscapes in a state of transformation. Together, these two exhibitions create a dynamic dialogue celebrating South Florida’s rich cultural and ecological landscapes.
