Oakland & Detroit District Dental Societies Presents Women in Dentistry
About this Event
Women dentists face unique physical demands in clinical practice that can contribute to musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, and long-term occupational strain. Health, Longevity, and Performance for Women in Dentistry: An Interactive Lecture & Lab combines evidence-based ergonomic principles with practical, immediately applicable strategies to help support practitioner health, well-being, and career longevity.
Participants will explore the primary causes of musculoskeletal discomfort in dentistry, with special attention to the risk factors and biomechanical challenges that disproportionately affect women. The program will also examine how operator and patient positioning influence posture, workload, and cumulative strain throughout the clinical day.
In addition to the lecture, attendees will participate in an interactive HealthLab featuring chairside mobility exercises and targeted postural strengthening techniques. These simple, effective strategies are designed to be incorporated into everyday practice to reduce pain, improve resilience, and enhance clinical performance.
By the end of the course, participants will leave with practical tools to improve musculoskeletal health, increase comfort in the operatory, reduce the risk of injury, and promote a healthier, more sustainable career in dentistry.
