Find out about the fieldwork projects La Sierra University sponsors in Jordan and the large collection of artifacts La Sierra University curates at the Lawrence T. Geraty and Douglas R. Clark Center for Near Eastern Archaeology on the Riverside campus.
The Center curates several donated collections originating in the eastern Mediterranean and modern Middle East regions. These complete artifacts number over 10,000 and range from ceramic vessels, metal weapons and utensils, and stone implements to Roman glass vases and perfume bottles. They cover a timespan that begins with the first cities and the invention of agriculture, through the rise and fall of nations. They trace biblical history to the formative events that set the stage for the modern world. The significance of preserving ancient artifacts is told through the story of who we are and how we got here.
Dr. Bramlett will share how La Sierra University hopes to make these collections more accessible to the public with the addition of a new museum facility to the campus.
