About this Event

NW Regional Cervical Length Scanning Training Day

This in-person training day is part 1 of the new NW CL Scanning Training Programme.

The day is designed for O&G resident doctors (ST2+), SAS doctors, consultants, midwives and sonographers who do not yet perform cervical length scans independently.

You’ll gain core theory and practical knowledge which can then be applied back in your own or designated unit where you will undertake supervised CL scanning in preterm birth clinics (part 2).

We will cover:

  • Evidence + role of CL scanning in threatened preterm labour
  • Risk stratification in preterm birth clinics
  • Transvaginal ultrasound basics, probe handling, and machine setup
  • Cervical length scanning technique, interpretation, and governance
  • Case discussions and clinical decision-making
  • Hands-on practice using OPUS Volutracer scan simulators

Our goal is to increase the number of clinicians able to provide a CL scan for assessment of TPTL. This is directly aligned with national ambitions to reduce preterm birth rates, improve the proportion of babies born in the right place, and maximise timely administration of all optimisation elements.

💸Free to attend
