NURSE THE DEAD: A Sacramento Community Celebration

This August, Sacramento’s Filipino community comes together for a special weekend celebrating our nurses, our stories, and the power of Filipino creativity. 🇵🇭🩷

On Sunday, August 30, join us for a FREE community screening of Nurse The Dead at The Sofia, Home of B Street Theatre. Created by Filipino-American veteran US Navy Hospital Corpsman, writer, producer, and showrunner Mark Labella, the series was inspired by the courage, sacrifice, humor, and humanity of frontline healthcare workers, with a special place in its heart for the Filipino nurses who have cared for generations of families across America.

This screening is our way of saying salamat.

We invite Filipino nurses, healthcare workers, families, students, artists, and community members to gather together, laugh together, and celebrate the people whose service too often happens quietly and without recognition. The screening will be followed by a special community conversation and Q&A.

On Saturday, August 29, Mark Labella is volunteering his time to give back to the Sacramento community through screenwriting and acting workshops, sharing practical tools he has learned working in film and television to help aspiring artists, actors, writers, and storytellers strengthen their craft and find the confidence to tell stories of their own.

Because honoring our community is not only about remembering what previous generations have given us. It is also about opening doors for the next generation.

Two days. One community. A celebration of service, storytelling, Filipino excellence, and the stories still waiting to be told.
