Join us in person to honor and remember loved ones and losses with a peaceful Jizo Ceremony.
About this Event

Jizo (also known as ‘Earth Store’ or Earth Womb) is the Great Bodhisattva found within many Buddhist traditions. Jizo carries us across the threshold of death and loss, is the protector of children, and safely accompanies us through the “hell zones” of deep suffering. Jizo brings us courage, fearlessness, tenderness, and great persistence to turn toward our grief and open our hearts to embrace the mystery of life and death.

In silence we will create handmade offerings to our loved ones, to be offered In a Ceremony of Remembrance. We will then process to our Jizo Garden to offer prayer flag messages for the dying, other losses and for ourselves as we continue to live our lives. In this sacred space we will together turn towards the complexity of grief and discover the resilience and hope that arises when we embrace our interconnectedness with all beings.

Everyone is welcome and there is no fee. Donations offered will be given to the ‘Jizos for Peace Project’ ( jizoceremony.com) Please register at Eventbrite: Jizo Ceremony. For further information contact Doralee Grindler Katonah at: [email protected].
