About this Event
THIS NRA RANGE SAFETY OFFICER COURSE WILL BE CONDUCTED OVER 3 CONSECUTIVE EVENINGS (MAY 19-21) & STUDENTS MUST ATTEND ALL 3 SESSIONS TO COMPLETE THE COURSE.
The RSO course content consists of RSO's roles and responsibilities, range standard operating procedures, range inspection and range rules, firearm stoppages and malfunctions, and Range Safety Briefings which include procedures to follow in the case of an emergency. Classroom instruction will cover all topics needed to successfully pass the written exam given during the last session. Once students pass the course, they can register with the NRA to receive RSO credentials at an additional fee payable to the NRA. Credentials must be renewed every 2 years to maintain the RSO certification, however, no additional training is required for renewals.
Once NRA credentials are obtained, members of the Rock County Rifle & Pistol Club may complete additional training to become Club RSOs and serve at Club-sponsored range events or activities. You do not need to be a club member, or subsequently become one, to enroll in this course.
Students do NOT need to bring a firearm as there is NO live fire time associated with this course. It is classroom instruction only. Per NRA instructional requirements, no live ammunition is allowed in the classroom.
