COURSE DESCRIPTION

NRA Certified Course - This course is an intermediate course. The course teaches the basic knowledge, skills and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a handgun for protection of self and family inside the home, and provides information on the law-abiding individual's right to self-defense. NRA Certificate of Completion awarded.

During this course, students will learn basic defensive shooting skills, defensive pistol ammunition types, safe storage of firearms in the home, strategies for home safety and home defense preparation, responding to violent confrontations and home invasion prevention techniques.

WHAT TO BRING

You should bring your primary defensive handgun (no shotguns or rifles) and a minimum of 100 to 150 rounds of good quality factory target ammunition for that handgun. Please limit handgun & ammunition choices between .22 caliber and .45 caliber. Also, bring two (2) or more magazines or speed loaders for your handgun to be used for the live-fire exercise on the range. All firearms should be unloaded and transported by CA laws. All firearms must be inspected by the Instructor prior to use on the range and the Instructor reserves the right to reject any firearm if he feels it is unsafe for use.

There are three major components to the course. A classroom component, a written examination, and a live-fire hand-gun range component. In order to successfully complete the course, students must attend the classroom portion, complete a short written examination based on the lesson material and successfully qualify during the live-fire portion of the course.
