Instructor led NRA Basic Pistol Class, with live fire range qualification. The course goal is to teach the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely.
The course is at least 8 hours of instruction, which includes classroom, simulator and range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. You will learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules and commands; shooting from the bench position, two-handed shooting from the standing position; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development.
To earn a certificate, you should be able to consistently shoot five-shot groups within a nine-inch circle from 10 to 15 feet, and pass a written open-book test.
Students will receive the NRA Guide to Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination, and receive a course completion certificate. We provide the pistols and ammunition.
