Join National Potomac Yacht Club for our annual Western-themed Chili Cook-off and Dessert Competition. We will also continue the time-honored tradition of "Burning of the Socks" to celebrate the end of winter and the start of boating season.Drinks, hamburgers, and hotdogs will be provided by the Club!
Are you planning to dance with the best chefs of NPYC? Get your recipes ready, start battering those spoons, it's spring time and we're getting ready to challenge the reigning Chili Champs. Those entering the contest should arrive no later than 1:30.
What to bring? Please bring a side dish to share—if you're not entering your chili or dessert in the contests. Wear your best western outfit!
Requested Side Dishes:
- Pasta Salad
- Baked beans
- Mac & cheese
- Cornbread
- Tortilla chips & salsa
* Please provide a serving spoon or tongs with your item!
The winner of the chili cookoff is forever memorialized in an engraved plaque that hangs on the wall of Island Time restaurant. Best Home-Made Dessert wins a prize too!

This event is free for all dues-paid members, and member prospects who register with [email protected], and anyone bringing a home-made food entry for competition. $25 for guests and non-renewed members attending in person. You're welcome to extend an invitation to fellow boaters and suitable membership prospects.
