About this Event

The Discover 4-H series of workshops is an engaging program designed to introduce youth to the wide range of opportunities available through 4-H. These hands-on, interactive workshops cover various topics, including science, agriculture, arts, leadership, and more, allowing participants to explore their interests while building valuable skills. Open to youth ages 5-7 and 8-10, this program allows for creative knowledge and skill development in a supportive and fun environment. Whether participants are new to 4-H or seasoned members, the workshops provide a platform for learning and personal growth, while emphasizing the 4-H motto of "Learning by Doing." Join us each month as we explore a new topic:

November 6th: NC Ag: Sweet Potato

Dig into North Carolina's favorite crop with our NC Ag: Sweet Potato program! As the nation’s top sweet potato state, we’re serving up a fun, hands-on culinary adventure where young chefs will learn how to turn this superfood into delicious meals. Kids will explore versatile cooking techniques—from roasting and mashing to baking sweet potato fries and mixing up healthy treats—all while mastering kitchen safety, and basic knife skills. It’s an engaging, tasty way to build confidence in the kitchen while celebrating our local agricultural roots.

All programs will be held at the NC Cooperative Extension office located at 120 Community Way, Barco NC 27917 starting at 5:30 pm and ending at 7:30 pm. These programs are free, but space is limited.
