About this Event

Discover 4-H Club is an engaging youth program designed to introduce members to the wide range of opportunities available through 4-H. This hands-on, interactive club explores a variety of topics throughout the year—including science, agriculture, arts, leadership, and more—giving youth the chance to discover their interests while building valuable life skills. Open to ages 5–7 and 8–12, the club offers a supportive and fun environment where creativity, knowledge, and skill development thrive. Whether members are brand-new to 4-H or returning with experience, the Discover 4-H Club provides ongoing opportunities for learning and personal growth, all rooted in the 4-H motto of “Learning by Doing.” Join us each month as our club dives into a new and exciting theme!

December 18th: Pressing Sausage workshop

Roll up your sleeves and experience the complete farm-to-table process in our 4-H Sausage Making Workshop! Young culinary enthusiasts will take full hands-on control as they learn the entire craft step by step—from selecting quality cuts and custom-blending savory seasonings to operating a sausage press that will press the meat into fresh sausage links. Guided by safety and culinary basics, participants will discover the science behind meat processing, master specialized kitchen tools, and take pride in crafting delicious, professional-quality sausage links entirely from scratch. Register today and give your child a unique, hands-on culinary experience they’ll never forget!

All programs will be held at the NC Cooperative Extension office located at 120 Community Way, Barco NC starting at 5:30 pm and ending at 7:30 pm. These programs are free, but space is limited. Please note that there are two age groups for each workshop (5-7 and 8-10) - make sure to select the correct section when completing the registration form.

All participants must also be enrolled in 4-H Online for the 2026 program year; the link to that portion of the registration process is https://v2.4honline.com/.

If you need accommodations for persons with disabilities or additional information please contact Stephanie Minton at (252) 232-2262 or by email at [email protected] no later than 10 business days prior to class.
