notv
begun in the early nineties as james robinson's solo project while he was a member of TMA-1, notv has continued in the background as both a live and recording <activity> while he was involved with other <designs> such as Whispering City, MIG-21, a version of Thee Strap Ons, Placenta Cookbook, Celebrity Death Machine, KWASI as well as many one-(or more)-off <schemes> over the years.
It typically involves a variety of sound sources; guitars, drum machines, synthesisers, DAWs, etc
This month he's using an AKAI MPC.
Dyschezia Tenesmus
Co-founded by Nick Harte and Will Callaghan, Dyschezia Tenesmus is essentially a continuation of Harte’s earlier CM Ensemble and later Aotearoa Snuff Jazz Ensemble (the latter of which was co-founded with Bruce Russell and Jeff Henderson). The unit assembles a constantly revolving lineup of performers who record on a regular basis, with free improvisation being the sole objective. Inspired by late 60s fire music, and drawing from Harte’s involvement with the 90s New Zealand free noise scene, Callaghan’s guitar also conjures up the gnarlier remnants of the 70s Kosmische Musik milieu. On this occasion, Harte (drums) and Callaghan (electric guitar) will be joined by Gareth Brighton (vocals, percussion/electronics) and Theo Henderson (double bass).
