Not "Just" a Poet

Not Just A Poet is a monthly open mic and creative gathering that welcomes everyone — poets, spoken word artists, musicians, storytellers, and those who simply love the performing arts.

Join us every 2nd Wednesday from February–July 2026 at Kanvas Event Space in Philly for a dynamic blend of featured performers and open mic slots. Each event features two multidisciplined artists, and plenty of space for both beginners and seasoned creatives.

Whether you’re here to perform or to appreciate, you’ll leave feeling inspired and more connected to the creative community.

Hosted by Ms Marquita Writes, Not Just A Poet is more than a poetry night — it’s a movement to celebrate and uplift every voice.

There will be vendors on site, as well as food and drinks available for purchase.
