About this Event

Walk leader - Penny Kemp, local resident and author of Northcourt Avenue: its history and people.

1.5km | 1hr 30 mins

Walk along Northcourt Avenue - site of Pearson’s Court, St Patrick’s Hall of residence and the original St George’s Hall of residence for women as well as more recent university accommodation. A quiet and developing neighbourhood at the time of the university’s foundation, it was an attractive location for staff and academics to live. Hear stories about the remarkable if often eccentric characters who made the avenue their home and see examples of contemporary architecture.

Start and end: St Patrick's Hall, University of Reading, RG2 7HB. Meeting in the St Patrick's Hall Common Room (you will see the one floor building in front of you as you walk down the main driveway)
