About this Event
Welcome to the North East SEN-collective Launch event (sponsored by Metrocentre & The Traveller and the Bear)
We are delighted to be putting on the first of many events bringing our North East SEN community together. The collective is founded by SEN parents (Claire & Jane). We both have lived experience and share our stories individually on instagram (@thebearandthewren & @theo_me_and_asd) - it's also where we found eachother.
You see, talking to other parents and carers really helps. We understand. We share the highs, the lows and everything in between. Now it's time for us to join forces to bring the digital world into real life and meet people to connect, share and support.
Everyone is welcome - SEN parents, carers, family, friends, those on the pathway, those who want to find out more, those who work in the SEN community. Our children are neurodivergent but our event is inclusive of all disabilities.
Our event is inclusive meaning...
- There is no pressure to stay for the whole event
- You're welcome to arrive late or leave early
- The event is judgement free and informal
- A quiet space will be available if anyone needs a break
- Friendly volunteers will be there to help if you need anything
- Feel free to come alone - many parents are likely to
More details are below but the event includes:
- 7-8pm - A warm welcome
- 8-9pm - panel of speakers (scroll below for details - more to be announced)
- 9-9.30pm - An amazing raffle (we'll be sharing more details on instagram @ne_sencollective)
- 9.30-11pm - Plenty of time to chat and meet likeminded people
We will also have some amazing supporters on the night:
- Revival Rooms (Sports Massage therapy clinic) will be there all night offering free shoulder massage tasters - lets be honest, we all need it
- Skínn Photography will be there to snap some amazing event pics (they also specialise in SEND/Disability & Neurodivergence photography)
- Topher McGrillis will be there getting some fantastic footage so that we can share for future events and attract as many people as possible in the future
We are a not-for-profit organisation so all money raised on the night from ticket sales and raffle tickets will go back into our SEN community in the form of events and activities.
A huge thank you to our headline sponsors Metrocentre & The Traveller and the Bear for helping us get off the ground. We know this is needed in our region and we really hope that as many people can come along as possible to make this a success.
