NORDIC GIANTS (UK - Cinematic Post-Rock)
Nordic Giants is an English instrumental post-rock duo formed in 2010, comprising members Loki and Rôka. Renowned for their enigmatic live performances, they blend atmospheric soundscapes with cinematic projections of award-winning short films. Their music integrates elements of post-rock, ambient, and instrumental rock, drawing comparisons to artists like Sigur Rós and Massive Attack. Their discography includes the studio albums A Séance of Dark Delusions (2015), Amplify Human Vibration (2017), and Symbiosis (2022). L.O.E. (UK - Post-rock)
L.O.E (Last of Eden) are a post-rock band from Halifax, UK with a strikingly original vision: rather than using a conventional vocalist, they weave speech samples from historical figures into their music, letting the words of some of the most influential philosophers, scientists, and activists of our time serve as a frontman of sorts. These samples serve as an emotional “vessel”, connecting band and listener, and offering a commentary of our current times. This unconventional compositional approach has garnered L.O.E plenty of attention and accolades, including a BBC 6 Music “an absolutely epic debut,” review for their LP “The World and Everything in It” (2023).
The band’s newest album “Chiaroscuro” is a record of rare emotional gravity, raw exploration of life’s duality influenced by bassist Ben Walsh's ongoing battle with Chronic Kidney Disease. Juxtaposing light and darkness, joy and sadness L.O.E have once again reminded us of life’s outmost fragility, and therefore, true worth.
