About this Event

Serving on a nonprofit board is both a privilege and a responsibility, one that many members step into without formal preparation. This workshop equips board members, new and experienced alike, with a clear understanding of their fiduciary duties, the distinction between governance and management, and best practices for effective oversight. Topics include the eight governance duties of a nonprofit board:

  • Establishing a mission and setting a strategic direction
  • Selecting, supporting, and evaluating the chief executive
  • Monitoring performance
  • Ensuring compliance with legal and ethical obligations
  • Providing financial stewardship
  • Ensuring financial resources
  • Serving as an ambassador and advocate
  • Building and maintaining an effective board

Participants leave with a practical understanding of what strong governance looks like and the confidence to contribute meaningfully in the boardroom.

Facilitated by Tiffany Comer Cook with the Align Team.
