NOLA Dogs Race to Rescue 5k

The 9th Annual NOLA Dogs Race to the Rescue 5K returns on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at Heaven's Pets at Lake Lawn Metairie Cemetery for a morning dedicated to fitness, community, and saving the lives of homeless animals. Whether you're running the chip-timed 5K, walking the course, or participating virtually, every registration helps provide life-saving support for local animal rescue organizations.
The event is more than just a race—it features a lively Second Line Dog Parade with a live brass band, the annual Blessing of the Pets, post-race festivities, vendors, refreshments, and an online auction, making it one of New Orleans' most unique pet-friendly fundraising events. Pets are welcome to join the parade and blessing, while the 5K itself is for human participants.
Since 2019, NOLA Dogs Charitable Giving, an all-volunteer 501(c)(3), has raised more than $225,000 for no-K*ll animal rescue organizations across South Louisiana. Every dollar raised helps provide critical veterinary care, food, shelter, foster support, and adoption services for abandoned, neglected, and homeless animals. This year's proceeds will benefit six local rescue partners: The Inner Pup, ARNO, Take Paws Rescue, Trampled Rose Rescue, Zeus' Rescues, and NOLA Girl Charitable Giving, helping thousands of animals get the second chance they deserve.
