About this Event
Catriona Ward will be delivering this year's Noirwich Lecture, "Reading with the Body". From Agatha Christie's body in the library to Poe's telltale heart and the bodiless entities of Hill House, crime, the gothic and the literature of the uncanny are all intensely preoccupied with our corporeal selves - with flesh, blood and bone - and with their absence. In this talk Ward will explore the various bodies that litter these pages, as well as how our own physical responses invite us into these books, making the reader an intrinsic part of the function of the text.
Born in Washington D.C., best seller and award winner Catriona Ward is the author of Rawblood, Sundial and Nowhere Burning. She studied English at the University of Oxford and later earned her master’s degree in creative writing at the University of East Anglia. Ward is the only woman to be win the August Derleth Award three times.
The event will be followed by the MA Creative Writing Crime Fiction anthology launch and a drinks reception.
