UTC+08:00Location
Stirling Street Arts Centre | Bunbury, WA
No Paintbrushes Colour Splash is a warm and welcoming creative arts initiative that brings kids together through colour, connection, and self expression. The sessions invite children to enjoy abstract art in a relaxed and supportive setting, using upcycled and natural tools instead of traditional paintbrushes. This gentle approach makes creativity feel easy to access. It is environmentally mindful, and fun for everyone, no matter their background, or experience.
Each session is guided with care and encouragement, with a focus on the joy of the process and learning new techniques rather than trying to get things perfect.
Kids are invited to play with paint and create in a space where they can feel comfortable to experiment, be curious, and simply enjoy making something of their own. At the end of the course, each child takes home a 40 x 50cm personal artwork that captures their unique weekly journey of colour and mark making. It becomes a meaningful reminder of their creativity, their courage to try something new, and the joy that comes from allowing themselves to create freely with no rules.

Artist Profile - About your Tutor: Colour Splash: I’m Marie Wilkinson, an Australian abstract artist and facilitator of No Paintbrushes experiences. My work is all about freedom. I paint without traditional brushes, choosing upcycled and natural tools instead, letting texture, movement and intuition lead. I love the moment when perfection drops away and something honest appears on the canvas.
Colour is my language, and playful experimentation is my process.
I create spaces where people can breathe, soften, and remember who they are beneath the noise.
Through my workshops, I invite kids, tweens, teens and adults to explore expressive abstract painting in a way that feels supportive, uplifting and fun.
There are no rules, no “right way”, and no need to be an artist already. Just curiosity, willingness, and a little courage.
Beyond the canvas, I’m a mother of three adult children and a proud grandmother. I’m devoted to living my authentic self and choosing creativity as a daily practice. Whether I’m making art or guiding others to make their own, I’m drawn to what feels real, joyful and alive.
